Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is different things to different
people. Most foreigners on a short visit find Hanoi to be slow paced
and pleasant. With many French colonial buildings the old part of
the city retains a special charm, with many shops virtually spilling
their goods into the streets. If you want to buy something you have
to know in what street it is sold, i.e. there is a shoe street,
a noodle shop street, a clothes street, a funeral articles street,
etc. Its streets are lined with trees, giving the city a wonderful
green color and providing shade.
